You know those times when your kid wants to watch TV and you’re not necessarily thrilled about it, but you let them anyway because they deserve some couch-potato time too?  Play with your TV and DVD remotes and set the show up for a different language – or at least subtitles in a different language.  It works best with movies/shows that the kids are already familiar with – but the fact is they can follow the storyline of most childrens’ programming.  It’s working well for me too.  If the show is in English, I watch it with Spanish subtitles and vice versa, it is definitely helping me increase my vocabulary.  J was just jumping up and down on the bed because she was so happy that she is comprehending parts of her “Island Princess” DVD in Spanish. Very cute!
